Xinjiang Aksu Oasis Ecosystem Observation and Experiment Station

Introduction

Aksu Water Balance Experimental Station was set up in 1982.It is located on the north fringe of Tarim Basin. The annual average temperature is 11.2 ℃. and the precipitation is 45.7 mm. The station has 20 hectares farmland. The station offers 1 analysis laboratory and 5 specific experiment fields: soil evaporation, water surface evaporation, meteorological station, 32cm meteorological tower and some experiment sites for simulation soil water and solute movement and water saving irrigation.

Research Orientation and Focus

The major research areas include the basic regulation of water and salt balance and its relationship with the natural environmental change in arid land, the ways for the utilization of the water resources, and the techniques for water saving irrigation in Tarim River Basin.
