Geographical Location: Cele Desert Research Station, Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences is situated in Cele County of Hotian Region, Xinjiang Urgur Autonomous Region., with an area of 50 hectares. It belongs to Cele oasis―desert transitional zone, and is geographically located at N37°00′938″, E80°43′778″, with an altitude of 1371m. It is extended 1000m from north to south and 500m from east to west.

Research Topics: In the light of development tendency of international disciplines, and to address the need of national economic and social development, Cele Desert Research Station of CERN is focused on the following research topics : Study on the structure, function and evolvement patterns of oasis ecosystem and its sustainable management; Integrated research and demonstration on desertification- combating technical system; Experiment and demonstration on oasis eco-agriculture. In this way, it will provide principles and practices for the oasis sustainable management, the oasis eco-agricultural development, ecological development of arid and fragile ecological zones and poverty alleviation of local people in the southern fringe of Taklamagan Desert.
