Location: Stations--Wetland Stations--San Jiang Located in Tongjiang, Heilongjiang province, Sanjiang Plains Experimental Station(SPES) was established in 1986. It joined CERN in 1992 and is currently the only field station of long-term monitoring and research of wetland and farmland ecosystems in China. It lies in the temperate continental monsoon zone with an annual temperature of 1.9’C and annual rainfall of 600mm. Its annual frost-free period lasts about 125 days. The experimental station covers an area of 100hm2, supporting a variety of herbaceous marshes and marshy meadows.
