An international training course on desertification research and management was held successfully in the Shapotou station

 

An international training course on desertification research and management was held successfully in the Shapotou station on September 4th to 6th. 12 participants were from seven countries as Ghana, Algeria, Niger, Sierra Leone, Pakistan, Namibia, and Israel respectively. The training content is rich in various forms, including reports, visits, and practices and so on. Professor Xin-Rong Li and Professor lichao Liu gave lessons on restoration ecology, carbon flux monitoring and research in arid areas.

Other train lessons were including the biological response under the conditions of global warming, technology and theory of Sand artificial protection system for the railway, species conservation of temperate desert, farmland and desert ecosystem monitoring, and water balance monitoring of sand, soil physical and chemical analysis, plant physiology research, sand observation instruments and technology.


Through the three days of intense study, and participants thought the training content rich, targeted and practical specially in control and develop technology in the desert, have a very good referential significance for their own country on desertification, environmental protection.
