From November 19-23, 2008 at the invitation of Professor Zhou Yi, the director of the Dinghushan station, Professor John Tenhunen from University of Bayreuth in Germany, visits Dinghushan station of South China Botanical Garden. Professor Tenhunen is a well-known expert in the field of global change research, and an invited expert of Chinaflux (China Terrestrial Ecosystem Flux Research Network) and Asiaflux (Asia flux network).
A seminar is held during this visit where Professor Shenglei Fu introduced Professor John Tenhunen , and professor Hai Ren, the deputy director of South China Botanical Garden, extends a warm welcome to the guest. Professor Tenhunen gave a presentation entitled "The role of ecosystem flux measurements in bridging between environmental science, environmental policy and natural resource management", and this talk initited a welcome discussion with attendees, especially graduate students.
Accompanied by Professor Fuwu Xing, Professor Tenhunen visites the newly built greenhouse of the South China Botanical Garden with great interest.It is worth mentioning that there are many universities in Germany that have collaborated with Dinghushan station since the 1950s. Based on the new research advances in the field and the actual research progress of both sides, Professor Yi Zhou, the chief of Dinghusan station, exchanges the views with Professor Tenhunen on personnel training and current research collaboration, and they hope to have further collaboration.
