On October 20, accompanied by Professor Yide Li, the director of Jianfengling forest station, and his research group, Professor Fangliang He (University of Alberta, Canada) visited Jianfengling Forest Station of the Chinese Academy of Forestry (CAF), along with professors Shirong Liu, Liang Zhen, Daping Xu, Tiefeng Zhou, Jinhua Mo, the vice president of CAF, vice president of Jiangsu Academy of Forestry, director of Research Institute of Tropical Forestry (CAF), Director of Jianfen Experimental Station, Research Institute of Tropical Forestry (CAF), deputy director of Jianfenling National Nature Reserve, respectively.
Professor Shirong Liu conducted the morning meeting. Professor Yidi Li gave the general overview of the station, then Dr. Dexiang Chen presented the progress of carbon flux research of the station and Dr. Han Xu introduced the future constructive project of a long-term biodiversity monitoring site, Participants had extensively discussion about these topics.
In the afternoon, Participants visited the station’s research facility, and the virgin tropical forest community and the lot for future long-term biodiversity monitoring site and discussed the feasibility of the project.
After one-day meeting, Participants came to an agreement that the establishment of biodiversity monitoring site will have significant impact on biodiversity monitoring and research of CAF ,Research Institute of Tropical Forestry (CAF), Jianfengling forest Station, and Jianfengling National Nature Reserve ,and these mentioned research department should fully support the project with fund and personnel. University of Alberta of Canada will offer help on team-building, technical training, technical standards, and data analysis and so on. Participants hope Jianfengling Station can work out the project timetable and the budget and start the construction as soon as possible, so to promote team-building, personnel training and better research achievement.
Professor He is appointed as a visiting scientist of Research Institute of Tropical Forestry (CAF), and Jianfengling station (CAF).
