October  29-31, at the invitation of Dr. Tao Wang, Director of Cold and Arid Regions Environment and Engineering Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS), and Dr. XueYong Zhao, Director of Naiman Desertification Research Station, C A S, the famous Soil biologist Dr. Olof Andren from Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, (UNEP official of the project), visited Cold and Arid Regions Environment and Engineering Research Institute, CAS.

October 31, Dr.Olof Andren gave a seminar about” Climate, agricultural production and soil carbon - a simple model approach” and “How do we improve our scientific work and especially Soil Biology”, around 50 scholars and graduate students from Naiman Desertification Research Station, Shapotou Desert Research and Experiment Station, Linze Inland River Basin Research Station, Lanzhou University attend the seminar and had discussion with Dr. Olof Andren.
Dr.Olof Andren was the mentor of Dr. Xueyong Zhao, when he pursuing his master degree during 1991-1994 in the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. During the visit, Dr. Olof Andren had discussion with Dr. xueyong zhong and all the research staff of Naiman station on the research progress of soil biology. Additionally, Dr. XueYong Zhao gave a detailed introduction of Naiman station, including the history, subject status, developing goal, on-going projects, team building, personnel training, and research achievement, research demonstration and so on.

Dr. Olof Andrene highly appraised the research development of Naiman Station over the years.
